The RFN Ares Road takes the rally-inspired Ares chassis and re-tunes it for street riding and commuting — road-biased tires, street-focused suspension damping, and gearing tuned for a higher, more sustained cruising speed, while keeping enough of the platform’s dual-sport DNA to still handle a gravel road or unpaved shortcut without drama.
The same 7,000W peak motor carries over from the Ares Rally, but the Ares Road is tuned toward smoother, more sustained power delivery for street use rather than trail acceleration, with a higher 55 mph top speed suited to real commuting and street riding rather than pure off-road work. Instant electric torque still means confident, immediate acceleration away from a stop — a genuine advantage over a comparable gas street bike in city traffic.
Long-travel adjustable forks and rear shock carry over from the Rally variant but are street-tuned for a firmer, more direct feel on pavement, while remaining compliant enough to handle rougher backroads and light gravel without punishing the rider. Road-biased 21-inch front, 18-inch rear tires trade a little off-road bite for significantly better pavement grip and a smoother, quieter ride on the street.
The 72V 40Ah battery delivers a strong 40–50 miles of range under street riding conditions, with a 3.5-hour recharge time that fits easily into a workday. At 148 lbs, the Ares Road is the heaviest bike in the Performance & Rally lineup, reflecting its street-focused componentry and full road-legal lighting kit, but it remains far lighter — and far cheaper to run — than any comparable gas commuter motorcycle.
